What is Aqua Motion International?
According to the World Health Organization, 96% of drownings occur in low-middle income countries. Aqua Motion International is the first organization of its kind to prevent drowning through water safety education, drowning rescue education, and free on-location swimming lessons to children in the low-middle income areas we target!
AMI’s first project took place in May of 2014. The project was deemed a success with 2,000 children participating in the AMI Drowning Prevention Program. Lessons were held in six different locations throughout the Kathmandu Valley. Children learned life saving skills including holding their breath, floating, treading water, and a safety stroke. Aqua Motion International hopes to use this trip as a learning experience in order to refine the organization’s mission and implement more projects in Nepal and throughout the rest of the world.
